Curriculum Vitae Sarah Christ, harp
Sarah Christ was born in Berlin in 1980 and began learning harp at the age of ten with Margit Anna Suess and a few years later with Marie-Pierre Langlamet.
1993 she won first prize in the German National Youth competition and was thus invited to perform as soloist with the Berlin Symphonic Orchestra in the Philharmonie in Berlin.
1999 Sarah Christ began studying in Detmold with Catherine Michel and continued her studies at the Conservatiore National Supérieure de Lyon with Fabrice Pierre. She attended master classes and received lessons from Chantal Matieu, Ann Hobson Pilot, Helga Storck, SarahO’Brien (Tanglewood, Gargilesse, Courchevel) and was invited to play in festivals such as Lockenhaus, Luzern Festival, the Edinburgh Festival…
Sarah Christ was a member of the Jeunesse Orchestre, the Australian National Youth Orchestra, the UBS Festival Youth Orchestra, and the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra which enabled her to gain experience in orchestral playing. The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin, the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre National de Lyon have frequently asked her to freelance.
2001 Sarah Christ won a prize in the international chamber music competition in Arles as a duo with her brother Raphael Christ, violin. In 2003 she founded the “Bax Trio” with Christoph Renz (flute) and Dirk Niewoehner (viola). She performs regularly as a soloist and in free chamber music groups with renowned musicians such as Emmanuel Pahud, Gérard Caussée, Renaud Capucon…In 2002 she was asked to record the Ravel Septett for the BBC radio with members of the Berlin Philharmonic, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra.
Sarah Christ also shows a great interest in contemporary music. In 2002 she was invited to perform with the Klangforum Wien and is often invited to play Berio’s Sequenza for harp solo (for example in the Luzern Festival).
Since September 2002 Sarah Christ has been appointed harpist at the state opera in Vienna and performs with the Vienna Philharmonic.
